West Hartford Cops Looking For Catalytic Converter Thieves
West Hartford police are searching for a getaway car in a catalytic converter theft.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford police are on the lookout for thieves who worked over a vehicle in town for its catalytic converter.
Police Wednesday said they are searching for three people in a gold-colored sedan who "took about a minute to cause $1,000 in damage while stealing one" in town.
Police then posted a photo to the getaway car.

Taller vehicles are a more susceptible because it's easier for thieves to crawl underneath vehicles with hand-held saws, police said.
"But it can happen to anyone," they added. "Protect yourself and your neighbors. Keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles and, of course, the sound of a metal saw at unusual hours."

Police said the thefts typically take place during the overnight and early morning hours.
