West Hartford Eastern Mountain Sports Store To Close
The outdoor clothing and equipment retailer's parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday.

Editor's note: In case you missed it from earlier this week...
WEST HARTFORD, CT — The Eastern Mountain Sports store at Corbins Corner in West Hartford will close as part of its parent company’s reorganization, according to the Hartford Courant.
Vestis Retail Group LLC, the operator of Eastern Mountain Sports, Bob's Stores and Sport Chalet chains filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization on Monday, according to the Courant.
The company announced that the move was made due to increased competition from big-box stores and online retailers, as well as an unseasonably warm winter that made for poor sales of cold weather clothing, according to FOX 61.
The Courant reports the company would emerge from bankruptcy, if the courts approve the reorganization, with 89 total stores (down from 144) including 13 Bob’s locations and six Eastern Mountain stores in Connecticut.
FOX 61 reports no Bob’s Stores in Connecticut are scheduled to close, only a location in South Portland, Maine.
