WEST HARTFORD, CT — Democrat Leon S. Davidoff, 59, is running for Town Council in West Hartford.

Experience: Currently and Deputy Mayor. Have served 14 years on the West Hartford Town Council; Served on West Hartford Plan and Zoning Commission for over 7 years; 3 years as Chair.

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

West Hartford needs strong, steady, experienced leadership to address the issues that will arise as we deal with the social and economic impacts of the pandemic. By being prepared, listening and actively participating in Council discussions, and I will be able to advocate for reasonable solutions.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I commend all those who are seeking to serve on the Town Council this election cycle. Each member of the Council brings a different skill set to the Town Council, which helps bring balance. My extensive knowledge of zoning law and regulations, specifically West Hartford zoning, and sets me apart from my colleagues.

Accomplishments:

I have been a member of the Town Council since 2007 and have worked collaboratively with my colleagues and Town staff to find commonsense solutions to a multitude of issues that have faced the Town of West Hartford. By being a part of an experienced team which has governed with civility and with the best interests of the Town at heart, West Hartford has become a leading community in the region and remains the best place to work, and live and to raise a family.

Other issues:

It is important for the Town Council to maintain the town's AAA top rated financial condition based on sound budgeting, sound investment in services and schools, responsible taxes and adequately funding employee retirement obligations. Also, and it is crucial that funding be in place for the educational opportunity to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student population in high performing public schools that make West Hartford nationally ranked as one of the best places for families to live in the country.
