West Hartford Firefighters Welcome 'Father George' To Their Ranks
The West Hartford firefighters union announced the appointment of a new WHFD chaplain to help with members' spiritual needs.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Fire Department Wednesday announced the arrival of a new department chaplain to aid the department's spiritual needs.
According to West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241, the WHFD welcomed Father George Zugravu as the new department chaplain.
A West Hartford resident, the man called "Father George" is the priest at the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in nearby Hartford.

Tuesday night, "Father George" was officially welcomed into the department at the monthly union meeting, where he was pinned and presented with his shield.
"Fire department chaplains have an understanding of the dangerous work that firefighters perform and they develop a passion for the special ministry required by the fire service," wrote the union in the announcement.

Part of the role of a fire department chaplain is to provide spiritual guidance to members of all faiths, especially after "challenging incidents" that might require further counseling.
