West Hartford Girls' Softball League Final Season Wrap-Ups

Major Division Playoff Games:

6/18/11   CT Veterinary Center Athletics 3, Harry’s Pizza Rockies 13

6/19/11   Rosenberg Orthodontics Orioles forfeited the championship game to the Rockies

Congratulations to the Rockies for winning both their division and post season championships! The Rockies won their first playoff game beating the A’s 13-3. The Rockies were lead by excellent pitching by Kayla Midney and Liz Ladd. Kayla pitched 3 scoreless innings while Liz allowed only 3 runs. Lena Proietti and Lillie Pinette lead the Rockies in hitting. Lena went 2 for 2 including a powerful triple and scored 2 runs. Lillie went 2 for 3, scored 2 runs and had a number of great defensive plays at 3^rd base. The Rockies maintained their undefeated season and won the playoff championship game with a forfeit by the runner-up Orioles.

Rosenbergs Orthodontics Orioles 10, Herbs Sports Shop Dodgers 7  Orioles: In a tough battle, the Orioles defeated the Dodgers 10-7. The Orioles were led with the bats of Erin O'mera and Amelia Hern as they combined for 5 for 5 hitting, 3 rbi's and 3 runs. The Orioles pitching was great all day, pitching 2 innings a piece was Rachel Chozick, Becca Gotthelf and Amelia Hern. Katherine Blaine made the play of the day with her great catch in centerfield.

Dodgers: Caroline Wisialowski had an outstanding play behind the plate when she tagged out a runner trying to advance on a steal home in the 2nd inning. She had a great hit to center field in the 5th inning; Mya Colon pitched two great innings, with 2 strikeouts and allowing only 4 hits; Lizzie Devine had a great offensive game, getting 2 hits and 2 RBIs.
