An elderly man was badly injured after confronting the burglar outside his home on Thursday.

UPDATE: West Hartford Police are searching for a “dangerous criminal,” who burglarized a home and badly injured the elderly homeowner on Thursday, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports the homeowner, a man in his late-70s, confronted the burglar outside his house and was struck by a rock or brick.

The homeowner had been trying to take a photo of the suspect’s car. The burglar then took the victim’s phone, according to NBC Connecticut.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford man was hospitalized for treatment after confronting a burglar inside of his home on Thursday, according to the Hartford Courant.

The Courant reports the man found a burglar inside of his Bloomfield Avenue home around 4:30 p.m.

The suspect fled with several stolen items in a car with New York license plates, according to the Courant.
