West Hartford Honors Firefighters, Police For Service, Leadership
Local first responders recently received awards recognizing lifesaving service, leadership, and dedication.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Several West Hartford first responders were recognized for outstanding service during an awards ceremony held earlier this month, honoring exceptional contributions to public safety and community well-being.
Among those recognized were West Hartford Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic David Holmes, who received the Firefighter of the Year award, and Firefighter/Paramedic Sean Kearney, who received the Clinical Excellence Award.
The ceremony also honored West Hartford Police Department Det. Kylee Lecchi and Officer Stephanie Hannigan as Police Officers of the Year.

The awards were presented by the American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 and the National Exchange Club of West Hartford.
According to organizers, recipients are selected based on merit and nominations submitted by their peers.

The awards recognize heroic service, lifesaving actions and the willingness of first responders to place themselves in danger to protect others.
Organizers said the honors also acknowledge the role first responders play in building trust within the community, promoting public safety, providing emotional support and encouraging a culture of service.
West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241 congratulated the recipients and praised their commitment to serving residents.
The organization said it is proud to have members such as Holmes and Kearney serving the community.
