West Hartford Jewelry Store Robbed Wednesday Afternoon in Smash-and-Grab (Updated)

The Lux Bond & Green jewelry store was robbed by multiple suspects that reportedly used mallets to smash the cases.

The Lux Bond & Green jewelry store in West Hartford was robbed by multiple suspects that allegedly used mallets to smash cases, according to Fox CT.

Fox reports that a significant amount of items were stolen and the getaway vehicle was found abandoned on Ellsworth Road.

West Hartford police said that several suspects were seen fleeing the area in a grey mini-van that struck several vehicles making its getaway. Police units located the mini-van that had been abandoned on Ellsworth Road and witnesses stated the suspects got into two other vehicles that had been parked there, according to police.

NBC Connecticut reports that the store, located at 46 LaSalle Road was robbed just after noon, and the robbers left in a stolen vehicle.

West Hartford police Sgt. Joe Verrengia told NBC Connecticut that it was “a brazen robbery in the sense that it was the middle of the afternoon.”

NBC reports that more than half a million dollars worth of watches were stolen from the store in 2010.
