West Hartford Juneteenth Celebration Seeks Donations
West Hartford's event will take place June 15 at West Hartford Town Hall, with every dollar donated being matched by SustainableCT.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local organizers of the town's upcoming Juneteenth celebration next month are calling on the public to help make the event happen.
Juneteenth, which is June 19, is a day marking the end of slavery in the United States and celebrating African American freedom, achievement, and contributions.

"Our celebration is more than just a gathering; it's a vibrant showcase of culture, resilience, and unity," wrote organizers in an announcement.
While the holiday is June 19, West Hartford's event will take place on Saturday, June 15, at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St., West Hartford

The event will feature entertainment, family activities, art, speakers, and local vendors.
But for folks to enjoy the free event in West Hartford that day, public donations are being sought.
And those donations will double courtesy of Sustainable CT, which will match dollar-to-dollar any donation made through Juneteenth Patronicity, according to organizers.
How to help
According to planners, there are multiple ways the community can help with the celebration. They can:
• Donate: Every contribution, with Juneteenth organizers saying any amount helps.
• Share: Share the celebration's crowdfunding page on social media, with friends, family, and local businesses.
• Volunteer: Lend a hand on the day of the event.
