MAJORS:
Brothers Associates Phillies 4 - CT Shower & Bath Dodgers 3
In a yet another comeback win performance marked by strong pitching performances for bother teams, the Brothers Associates Phillies achieved their 3rd win in a row with a 4-3 win over the CT Shower & Bath Dodgers at the WHLL UConn Complex. On the offensive side, Colin Kuzia led the Phillies with another strong hitting performance, going 2 for 3 with a double, 2 RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. The Phillies also received big offensive contributions from Nick Santos (1 for 2 with a run scored), Kory Powell (1 run scored) and Mack Reynolds (converting a painful hit-by-pitch into a run scored). The Phillies were paced on the mound by Mack Reynolds (2 IP with 3 K's) and Sam Fiske (4 IP and 8 K's).

The Dodgers were paced by an excellent outing from Joe Kitz who struck out 10 in 4 IP followed by very strong relief work from Blake Deresienski (2 IP, 1 K and no runs allowed). The Dodgers offensive was led by Declan Chill (2 for 3 with a double and a run scored) and Miles McCarthy-Reynolds (1 for 2 with a RBI).
Brothers Associates Phillies 7 - Total Vision Eye Care A's 6

In a game that can best be described as a wild one, the Brothers Associates Phillies staged a late-game comeback against the Total Vision Eye Care A's to pull out a 7-6 win. The game ended on a double-play involving possibly 5 or 6 different Phillies fielders as the A's threatened late in the game. If called upon to give an exact description for the score book, the beleaguered Phillies scorekeeper was at a loss, but key plays were made by closer Andy Moise, catcher Sam Fiske and shortstop Colin Kuzia.
The Phillies were led in this contest by the hitting of Sam Fiske who was 2 for 3 with a double, triple, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. In addition, the late Phillies rally in the bottom of the 5th was keyed by a clutch double from Emery Burke who drove in 2 huge runs and would later score through aggressive baserunning.
The A's were led by a very strong pitching performance by Dylan Mallinson who went deep into the game and recorded 6 strikeouts. Other key A's contributions came from Nick Levire (1 for 2 with 2 runs scored), Mason Stabile (1 for 3 with a run scored) and Owen Hyland (1 for 2 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored).
Brothers Associates Phillies 9 - Keller Maintenance Braves 5
In a critical game for the Brother Associates Phillies, the Phillies posted a balanced team win of 9-5 over the Keller Maintenance Braves. The Phillies were led by solid offensive performances from Same Fiske (double with 2 RBI, 1 R), Michael Bienasz (1-2 with 2 runs), Nick Santos (2 runs), as well as by 1 run scored a piece by Colin Kuzia, Mack Reynolds, Michael Mavredakis and Kory Powell.
The Braves hung tough throughout, led by a strong hitting performance by Dom Fuentes who was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Joey's Pizza Pie Pirates 9 - Keller Maintenance Braves 2
The Joey's Pizza Pie Pirates topped the Keller Maintenance Braves by a score of 9-2 on Memorial Day at the West Hartford Little League Complex.
Grady Brockway pitched a fine game for the Pirates going five plus. Brockway scattered four hits, struck out eleven and walked just one batter. Noah Fox closed the game for the Pirates striking out two in the sixth. On offense, Noah Fox was 2-3 (double, single), Patrick O'Keefe was 2-3 (double, single, walk, 2 RS) and Grady Brockway, Chris Keegan, Nicholas Bray, Jamey Nadeau (2 RS) and Brendan Battiston all collected singles.
For the Braves, Mateo Ramirez-Webster was 2-3, Dylan Landau hit a double and Ethan Wilkins singled. Ramirez-Webster pitched four strong innings for the Braves striking out five Pirates batters. Jordan Mogel also pitched great for the Braves for the last two innings of the game.
Feigenbaum & Nair Cardinals 12 – Joey’s Pizza Pie Pirates 3
The Cardinals bats came alive in a 12-3 win over the Pirates at Kennedy Park. The scrappy Pirates scored 2 runs on 3 hits to lead off the game in the top of the 1st. The Cardinals starting pitcher, Michael Mack, dug deep and found his groove, shutting down the Pirates over 5 complete innings, striking out 9 while allowing no more runs and no hits. In the bottom on the first frame the Cards scored 4 runs, highlighted by a 2 run double by Jimmy Sabia. In the 3rd inning the Cards tacked on 3 more runs, when Mack ( 3-4 2B, 3 RS) doubled and scored on a hit by Cory Wolski (2-3, 3RS), who raced home on a single by Danny Harris. The Cards scored 5 runs in the 5th and 6th innings, lead by the clutch hitting of Harris and Seth Meisler. Peter Gedicks pitched a great 6th inning to seal the Cardinals win.
The Pirates were led by Patrick O'Keefe, who struck out 6 in 3 innings on the hill. O'Keefe, Grady Brockway and Jack Brockway also had hits for the Pirates.
Feigenbaum & Nair Cardinals 6 - CT Shower & Bath Dodgers 3
The Cardinals and Dodgers dodged the raindrops at UConn with the Cards prevailing 6-3. The Dodgers got off to a quick start, scoring 2 runs in the top of the first on RBi singles by Blake Deresienski and Declan Chill. The Cardinals starter Cory Wolski then settled in and proceeded to blank the Dodgers through 5+ innings, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 8. In the bottom of the 1st the Cardinals roared back and scored 4 runs with 2 outs with 5 consecutive hits, with Seth Miesler driving in 2 and Danny Harris and Peter Gedicks 1 run each. The Cardinals added a run in the 4th when Harris singled and scored on another RBi single by Gedicks, and added an insurance run in the 5th when Robert Seecharran walked, advanced to 3rd and scored on an infield out by Adam Giroux. The Dodgers would not quit, scoring a run in the top of the 6th. The bases loaded were loaded with 2 outs when releiver Ben "Bamm Bamm" Giroux, making his Major League pitching debut, fanned the last batter to end the game. Dodgers pitchers Deresienski and Chill battled throughout the contest.
Both teams played good defense, with the Cardinals getting nice outfield grabs by Seecharran and Vincent Chen. Ben Giroux made a fine play at 3B and a nice sliding catch in RF. The Dodgers, playing without Miles McCarthy Reynolds and Brian Kenna, were lead defensively by Matthew Chorches who made three good plays (nice catch in right field and 2 plays at 2B), Colman Glagovich, who made a nice stab at third to grab a rocket liner, and Declan Chill who made a nice over the shoulder catch at SS. Deresienski went 2 for 3 while Chill and David Newman each had 1 hit.
Companions For Living Angels 8 - The Rock Cats Twins 2
In a hot and hazy beautiful day for baseball, the Angels beat the Twins 8- 2 to improve their record to 6-2. The Angels win was highlighted by a great pitching performance by Michael Lee who pitched a complete game. Michael Lee had 7K’s, 1 walk, and allowed only 3 hits. The offense was sparked by Ben Castro (4-4) and Marcos Massa (3-4). Omair Hussain, Jorge Delgado, and Michael Lee all got hits. Charlie Steinberg earned the game ball after acquiring his first base hit of the season. The Angels did not commit an error the entire game!!!!
The Twins’ Paul Van Doren and Dominick Mongilio each got base hits.
Companions For Living Angels 1 - The World Series Club Marlins 0
In a hot, humid, misty and heart -pounding game, the fans at UCONN’s Little League Complex witnessed the greatest pitching dual of the season and arguably the history of the West Hartford Little. The Angels defeated the Marlins 1-0. The Angels’ Joseph Morrissey pitched the game of his Little League Career. He only allowed 4 hits and had 13K’s in 5 and 1/3 innings. He did not allow a run. Will Crawford came in with 1 out in the top of the 6th and retired the Marlins’ top of the line up to secure the win and his 3rd save of the year. Ben Castro (1-2) started the game with triple and two batters later scored on the only RBI of the game by Marcos Massa.
Defensive standout; In the bottom of the 6th, The Angels’ Jorge Delgado made a great defensive play while playing 1st base on a hard one bouncer by Jefferey Larosa.
The Marlins’ Spencer Altman went the distance throwing a one-hitter with 10K’s through 5. The Marlins’ Danny Dashefsky went (2-2), Zach Ellovich went (1-2), Matteo Carrabba went 1-2) and Jack Brennan went (1-3).
After the game was over, there were whispers all around the UCONN’s Little League Complex that this game could have been the best game ever played in the history of West Hartford Little League.
Joey's Pizza Pie Pirates 7 - Hartford Symphony Orioles 1
The Joey's Pizza Pie Pirates topped the Hartford Symphony Orioles 7-1 on Monday (5/21) at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Park. Noah Fox pitched five strong innings for the Pirates giving up one run on three hits. Fox also struck out eight Orioles batters. Patrick O'Keefe pitched a scoreless sixth inning to close the game out for the Pirates. On offense, Jack Brockway continued to swing a hot bat for the Pirates going 3-3 (3 singles, 2 runs scored). Noah Sobel-Pressman scorched a big RBI double to right field in the bottom of the fifth. Grady Brockway was 1-1 with a single, a walk and a great sacrifice fly in the fifth. Patrick O'Keefe was 2-2 (2 singles, walk, 2 runs scored). Nick Bray and Noah Fox added singles for the Pirates.
The Orioles received strong pitching from Chase Myers (4 IP, 5H, 4Ks) and Oliver Anderson (1 IP, 4 H, 2Ks). Burke Martindale singled and scored a run in the first inning. Tyler Connell and Connor Blodgett also singled for the Orioles.
AAA:
Tax and Accounting Services A’s 11 - Watkinson School Orioles 9
On a day when the weather looked shaky, the Tax and Accounting Services A’s and the Watkinson School Orioles played a solid and exciting game. The A’s won the game by the score of 11 to 9. The A’s jumped out to an early lead with a strong second inning. The Orioles never relented and made the game close to the end.
The Orioles were led by the strong pitching of Jack Krugman who pitched two scoreless innings. Their defensive star of the game was Jake Zweifler while their offense was led by Nolan Asadow. Asadow contributed with two timely hits and received a game ball for his play.
The Athletics were led by the pitching of Chris Maglio and Emmett Coco. Maglio pitched 3 strong innings striking out six and Emmett Coco pitched the last 3 innings striking out 3 and only allowing 2 runs. Offensively, Maglio had 3 hits, Coco had a triple and Dominic Zaleski got on base all 3 times. Zaleski also scored 2 key runs. The defensive star of the game was Abriana Teodoro who made 4 outstanding fielding plays that included 2 hard hit grounders that she snagged and threw to first. Max Hassan also played a strong defensive game behind the plate highlighted by a crisp 1-3 put out. Teodoro and Zaleski received game balls for their outstanding play.
Retirement Visions LLC Cardinals 8 - Tax and Accounting Services A's 5
The AAA Cardinals beat the A's 8-5 in a well played game. The A's were led by Emmett Coco who had a triple and single. Spencer Wimpe chipped in with two singles. Julian DeCampos pitched 3 strong innings. For the Cardinals, Korey Dinowitz(2 rbi) and Ryan Howe had two hits a piece. Zach Martin had a triple(1rbi, 2runs) and Chanjoo Kim had a run producing single. Rounding out the hitting was Spencer Martindale who had a single and 2 runs scored. Defensively, In the 4th, Howe threw out a speedy Emmett Coco trying to steal second base. Clay Courtemanche applied a nice tag. Sean Guevara pitched well in relief for 2 2-3 innings(6 strikeouts) and Dinowitz closed things out with 2 scoreless innings(4 strikeouts).
We Care Computer Pirates 10 - Tax and Accounting Services A's 6
On a fine day for baseball the Pirates and the A's engineered a great game for the fans. The A's pitching staff featured strong performances by Emmett Coco who pitched 3 innings and had 6 K's in relief of starter and gamer Julian DeCampos who handled the first two frames. Abrianna Teodore also impressed with a late inning performance that kept the score close. Max Hassan put on a 4 inning catching clinic behind the plate and added two fine fielding plays assisted by fellow fine fielder Chris Maglio. The A's hitting attack featured doubles by Julian DeCampos, Emmett Coco and Max Hassan. Pirate's starter Luis Vargas pitched into the 5th inning before retiring in favor of strong relief performaces by David Cass and closer Jack Kinney. On offense Sam Carlson smashed a shot to the outfield in leading the Pirate hitting attack that also featured strong hitting performances by Elison Garcia, Luis Vargas, Giovanna Dionicio and Thomas Cass. The Pirates were also assisted by the aggressive base running of Ari Blechner, Austin Blodgett and Leo Dionicio. A good game featuring two teams packed with truly good sports.
We Care Computer Pirates 10 - California Pizza Kitchen Angels 9
Makeup games can be a challenge for the coaches to arrange and sometimes the players arrive tired and uninspired. Well, that was not the case when the Angels and the Pirates met to play during a Saturday practice. The Angels pitchers were led by Nate Cutler who managed to 2 hit an aggressive Pirate club for 2 and 2/3rds innings. At the plate the Angels demonstrated the depth of their offense with hits from Justin Hern-2 for 2, Alex Almazen-double and solid base hits by Mike Pechenuk, Brian Brewer, Andrew Lemanski and Cam Davidson. The Pirate pitching staff featured Jack Cote at starter, Leo Dionicio-middle relief and Luis Vargas who came in with men on base and managed to pickup a save. On offense the Pirates relied upon a hitting attack led by Jack Cote and Luis Vargas while savvy base running by Austin Blodgett and Peter Sweeney helped the Pirates secure a narrow one run victory. Of special note during this game was the outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by Mike Pechenuk of the Angels who advised the homeplate umpire that a Pirate runner had successfully avoided his tag at second base and that the original "out" call should be reversed. Mike demonstrated for player and fan alike how to play the game with honor and integrity and it earned him a well-deserved loud and sustained round of applause from fans on both side of the diamond.
We Care Computer Pirates 19 – Mandell JCC Dodgers 14
On a pleasant and blessedly DRY May evening the Pirates and the Dodgers renewed their cross country rivalry with a well-played game. The Dodgers were led by strong pitching performances from Jack Newhouse, Connor Skarzynski and Sam Giangreco with Paul Verner contributing a fine catching performance behind the plate. The Dodger's offense featured the power hitting of the famous Wilson brothers--Conlon and Liam who were only too willing to challenge the Pirate pitchers and defense. The Pirate side of the game featured fine pitching performances by Jack Kinney, Leo "fireball" Dionicio, Peter Sweeney and David Cass who closed out the game for the eventual Pirate win. The Pirate offense started with a roar with a strong first inning hitting attack that featured the bats of Luis Vargas, David Cass Jack Kinney and Giovanna Dionicio. As twilight enveloped the field the Pirates and Dodgers finished up a truly enjoyable game of baseball.
