West Hartford Man, 71, Accused of 'Strangulation' in Parking Dispute (Updated)
James Richardson faces several charges following arrest in dispute over improperly parked cars that allegedly escalated to an assault.

West Hartford police arrested a 71-year-old town man Friday after a dispute over improperly parked cars escalated into an assault that allegedly included “strangulation,” according to police.
James Richardson, 71, of 27 Warren Terrace, was arrested on charges of third-degree strangulation, third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.
Police said that Richardson was identified as being involved with an assault over improperly parked cars at 74 Park Road. He attacked one of the workers, an “innocent person” according to the arrest log, at that address and was later arrested via a warrant.

Richardson was held on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 16.

Updated: According to WTNH, Richardson allegedly choked a doctor over a parking space. He went into the medical center and confronted the owner about a car that was parked out front, according to WTNH.
