West Hartford Man Sentenced For Downloading Child Porn: Feds
The man pleaded guilty in federal court to downloading child pornography from a 'dark website,' authorities say.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford man was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison for downloading child pornography from the dark web, according to officials. Mark Rohrer, 38, was also sentenced to five years of supervised release following the prison term, U.S. States Attorney for Connecticut John H. Durham announced.
Authorities said that Rohrer had a user account on a dark web internet site that promoted child pornography.
“Using Bitcoin, Rohrer downloaded images and videos of child pornography from the website in January 2016,” according to a press release from the U.S. States Attorney’s Office. “Images of child pornography were found on Rohrer’s home computers after a court-authorized search of his residence on April 3, 2018.”
