West Hartford Marking Mental Health Awareness Month

The West Hartford Prevention Partnership has several programs and events all month long for National Mental Health Awareness Month

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Prevention Partnership is overseeing several programs and activities this month regarding National Mental Health Awareness Month.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, established in 1949, to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness and celebrate recovery from mental illness.

"Every May (and every day), we strive to increase awareness about the vital role mental health plays in our overall health and well-being and provide resources and information to support individuals and communities needing mental health support," wrote the town Wednesday in a statement.

As a result, several locally based agencies and organizations are hosting a variety of activities all month long focusing on mental health.
