West Hartford PD Officer Earns Major Honor

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A prominent local civic organization recently honored one of West Hartford's finest as it named its 2024 "Police Officer of the Year."

West Hartford Police Department Timothy Camerl was selected as the 2024 Exchange Club of West Hartford's Officer of the Year.

Camerl currently serves in WHPD's patrol division with his partner, K-9 Onyx.

"This K9 team has apprehended numerous fleeing suspects, many of them felons, located illegal narcotics and firearms, and has located many missing/endangered persons," wrote the WHPD.

Along with being a K-9 handler, Camerl is a field training officer and a member of the WHPD Emergency Services Unit.

"Thank you Ofc. Camerl for continuing to be a role model, leader, and asset to our department and more importantly our community," wrote the WHPD. "Congratulations again on this well-deserved recognition."
