West Hartford PD's SWAT Team Does Well At Competition

The West Hartford Police Department's Emergency Services Unit came in third out of 37 competing units recently.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — It wasn't the Olympics, but the West Hartford Police Department's SWAT team recently took home third place in a major teach competition, earning a figurative "bronze medal."

The West Hartford Emergency Services Unit came in third out of 37 other regional, state and national SWAT teams at the 2024 Connecticut Swat Challenge, Aug. 12-15.

This year marked the 20th Anniversary of the CT SWAT Challenge and the WHPD ESU was just one of the many teams that competed.

"WHPD ESU would like to thank everyone that supported us during the challenge to include our families, sponsors, (West Hartford Police Chief Vernon) Riddick and fellow personnel at WHPD," wrote the WHPD.
