West Hartford Police Get 'Thank You' Note From Child During Speed Trap

A young resident watching speed enforcement was compelled to write a personal "thank you" note to West Hartford police.

WESY HARTFORD, CT — It wasn't all about the tickets during a recent speed trap set up in West Hartford.

One day last week, a West Hartford police officer was working a speed enforcement detail on Albany Avenue. A young girl named Charlotte was watching from her residence.

Charlotte took it upon herself to write a little note to the officer and came out of her house to thank the department and hand the officer the message.

"Thank you West Hartford Police," it said.

"It's the little things like this that mean so much and speak volumes," police officials said. "The small gestures that make our community so wonderful. Thank you Charlotte for reminding us all why we come to work everyday."

Charlotte's gesture led to another on social media

"I would like to add to this," the message said. "I am a disabled senior and I want to take this opportunity to thank the West Hartford Police Department for all the support they have given me in the past years."
