West Hartford Police Take 2 Fugitives In Custody, Recover Stolen Car

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police took a Waterbury man and a New Britain man into custody Wednesday following a foot chase through town after they were spotted inside a stolen vehicle.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, the duo exited a stolen motor vehicle during a planned "enforcement operation targeting street-level offenses and warrant services."

• Javeon Zymell Stevens Christopher, 21, of Waterbury, was facing several charges from other police departments, including first-degree escape and second-degree failure to appear in court.

West Hartford police charged Christopher, the driver of the stolen vehicle, with theft of a motor vehicle and interfering with police.

Police said Christopher had an active warrant for his arrest out of Troop A in Southbury and was on parole on weapons charges.

• Raymond Perez, 21, of New Britain, the stolen vehicle's passenger, was also charged with theft of a motor vehicle and interfering with police by the WHPD.

Police said Perez was found with 57.5 grams of marijuana in his possession and was on parole for weapons charges.

Both men were turned over into the custody of the state Department of Corrections' Parole Fugitive Unit, the WHPD said.

In addition to the stolen car and foot chase, the WHPD also arrested others, including four felony arrests, three misdemeanor arrests, served one failure to appear warrant, served one other agency arrest warrant, and arrested one adult male for possession of narcotics with Intent to sell.
