West Hartford Primary Election 2016: Winner Declared in Probate Judge Race

West Hartford Democrats voted in a primary election for Judge of Probate.

UPDATE: Owen Eagan, the Democratic party's endorsed candidate, won Tuesday's election against challenger Michael J. Croll.

Eagan received 1,929 votes compared to Croll's 1,111, according to unofficial results from the secretary of state's website.

Eagan, 56, who founded the law practice Eagan, Donohue, Van Dyke & Falsey LLP, will be the Democratic candidate to replace current Probate Judge Sydney Elkin, who will turn 70 in October and must retire, according to state statute, the Hartford Courant reports.
