West Hartford Receives Extension for Decision to Purchase UConn Campus
The town will hold a public forum tonight (May 2) to discuss the possibility of matching the $12.6 million deal for the 58-acre campus.

WEST HARTFORD, CT —The town will have more time to decide if it wants to purchase the 58-acre UConn-West Hartford campus for $12.6 million after receiving an extension to June 17 from school officials, according to the Hartford Courant.
Last week, UConn’s board of trustees approved a deal to sell the property to the China-based Weiming Educational Group for use as an international high school and West Hartford had until May 14 to decide if it would match.
The town will hold a public forum to discuss the possible purchase tonight (May 2) at 7 p.m. at town hall.
The Courant reports that in granting the extension, UConn also offered an alternative proposal in which West Hartford could buy the property now and delay the transfer of ownership and payment to fall 2017.
