Weatherization can reduce heat, electric and water bills by 10 to 30 percent. A technician seals drafts, then determines if more insulation is needed. They also provide energy-saving light bulbs, install water conservation equipment and see if a person qualifies for a more efficient refrigerator or freezer.
Energy Assistance helps low- to moderate-income families pay for fuel, which may include oil, natural gas, electricity, propane, kerosene or wood. Even if heat is included in the rent, a tenant may be able to get a one-time cash payment.
