Store Closing: West Hartford To Say 'Bye Bye' To 'buybuy Baby' Store

The baby and children's furniture chain is closing as part of Bed, Bath & Beyond's liquidation, with West Hartford the only CT site.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A prominent baby furnishings, toy and baby clothing retailer in West Hartford is shuttering, part of the fallout after last week's announcement that Bed, Bath & Beyond is shutting down nationally.

The "buybuy Baby" store located in West Hartford at 1433 New Britain Ave. (Corbin's Corner across from the Westfarms Mall), is closing, with closing sales underway, according to a company announcement on April 29.

West Hartford's "buybuy Baby" is the only Connecticut store in the national chain, which is owned by Bed, Bath & Beyond.

According to a company announcement, discounts between 10 and 30 percent are available on already price-slashed items.

The closing of 380 Bed, Bath & Beyond stores also brings with it the shuttering of 120 "buybuy Baby" stores.

The store will officially shutter on May 24, according to the company, with gift cards, merchandise credits and loyalty rewards only being honored until May 8.

Returns and exchanges for items bought prior to April 26 will be accepted with usual policies until the last day later this month, according to the store chain.

"This is an opportunity to save on household items or stock up on baby essentials at discounted prices. New merchandise is arriving in stores. Top-selling items from the most sought-after brands will be discounted and will sell out very quickly," stated a spokesperson for the liquidation event at "buybuy Baby."

"We encourage shoppers to take advantage of these new price reductions before it's too late. Whether celebrating the birth of a baby or a new graduate, or for someone who enjoys cooking, gardening, or decorating, this unique sales event offers something for everyone."
