The West Hartford School System and West Hartford Public Library have several activities this summer to engage pupils in reading and math.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Summertime for schoolchildren is often a much-anticipated and giddy time in their lives.
But, as educators will tell you, it's also a time when learning skills and knowledge can erode a bit, creating a temporary condition called the "summer slide."
The West Hartford School System has a handy, dandy web page specifically designed to ensure children/parents have a quick means to brush up on their math and reading skills.

And, the page has links to all sorts of activities that take away the drudgery of summer learning, which, school officials said, is important.
"While summer break allows students a well-deserved opportunity to relax and recharge, it's important to prevent learning loss in core subjects like reading and math," wrote West Hartford Public Schools on its website.
