West Hartford Seeks Diabetes Workshop Participants
West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District to host virtual diabetes management workshops in October and November.
WEST HARTFORD/BLOOMFIELD, CT — The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District is signing up folks to participate in vritual diabetes management workshops in October and November.
Participants can join registered dietitian and certified care and diabetes education specialist Paula Kellogg Leibovitz for a virtual seven-week series that will focus on managing diabetes and eating well while following diabetic guidelines.
The workshop is supported by a grant from the state Department of Public Health to the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District.

This seven-week diabetes workshop series is for individuals with type 2 diabetes who are newly diagnosed or who may need an update on managing their diabetes.
Topics include: meal planning using the plate method; beginning carbohydrate counting; eating out; label reading; monitoring your blood glucose and your blood glucose goals; diabetes medications and how they work; exercising safely; and managing sick days.

There is opportunity for questions and comments as we share our virtual learning experience.
The workshops are Thursdays, Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3, 10 and 17.
There is a daytime session from 10 a.m. to noon or participants can choose a night session from 6 to 8 p.m. on those days.
