West Hartford Seeks Input From Seniors, Unveils Main Street Banner Display

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford officials are encouraging residents to share their views on housing, transportation, health services, and other community issues as the town develops an Age-Friendly Action Plan.

The outreach effort coincides with a new banner display along Main Street between Farmington Avenue and West Hartford Town Hall.

The banners feature community members of various ages and promote the theme "Aging and Growing Well in West Hartford."

According to the town, the banner project grew out of West Hartford's Age-Friendly Communities Initiative, a partnership involving West Hartford Senior Centers, West Hartford Municipal Parking, the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative and Connecticut Community Care.

Town officials are asking residents to complete a survey that will help guide future priorities and policies related to aging and quality of life in the community.

The survey seeks feedback on six areas: housing and affordability; transportation and walkability; social participation and inclusion; access to health services; communication and civic engagement; and outdoor spaces and public buildings.

Officials said community input will directly inform the town's Age-Friendly Action Plan and help determine priorities for the coming years.

Residents can complete the survey online at bit.ly/WH_Age-Friendly. The deadline to complete the survey is June 15.

The Age-Friendly Communities Initiative aims to support residents of all ages and create policies and services that help people remain active, connected and engaged throughout their lives.
