West Hartford Symphony's Holiday Concert To Feature Russian Opera Star

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The local symphony orchestra is promising a fun afternoon of classical music mixed with a bit of holiday revelry and a special guest who hails from half a world away.

The 22nd Holiday Concert by the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. in the Reed Auditorium at Northwest Catholic High School, 29 Wampanoag Drive, West Hartford.

The WHSO will present Russian opera singer Zhanna Alkhazova — a native of Moscow, Russia, who now lives in Connecticut with her husband and daughter — as its featured performer.

She is expected to sing “O Holy Night,” Puccini’s “O Mio Babbino Caro,” Mascagni’s “Sancta Maria,” and, of course, Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”

General seating is $20, with tickets for seniors and students at $15. Children under 12 are free.
