West Hartford Teacher 'Inappropriately Touched' Pupil: WHPD
The 46-year-old Manchester resident, a 20-year classroom teacher, works at a private day school.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A teacher at a private day school in West Hartford has been accused of inappropriately touching a pupil there.
According to the West Hartford Police Department Friday, Nicholas Ricciardi, 46, of Manchester, was charged with one count of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a child and one count of second-degree breach of peace.
Ricciardi, who was charged on Jan. 17, was able to post his court-set $40,000 bond and he will appear in Hartford Superior Court on Jan. 30.

According to police, the WHPD was notified on Dec. 13, 2024, by the state Department of Children and Families (DCF) that a teacher from the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford, a private school in West Hartford, was suspected of inappropriately touching a juvenile student.
This prompted a subsequent police investigation that resulted in an arrest warrant charging the suspect with criminal violations.

On Friday, Jan. 17, Ricciardi was taken into custody.
According to an Aug. 22, 2024 post on the school's Facebook page, Ricciardi started work this past school year as a first- and second-grade general studies teacher.
"In addition to being a classroom teacher for 20 years, Nick is also a certified yoga instructor and personal trainer," wrote the school in a Facebook post.
The Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford is a Jewish community day school located at 26 Buena Vista Road, West Hartford.
It teaches pupils from early childhood to eighth grade.
