WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local teens have a new friendly face in the library system, with the West Hartford Public Library announcing the recent arrival of Abigail Simard as teen librarian, a role she has had since October.

"As a teen librarian, the biggest part of her job is creating library programs for teenagers," wrote the West Hartford Public Library earlier this month.

For example, she’s planning a celebration of Taylor Swift’s birthday (Dec. 13) as well as a crochet club and Maker Lab that will be starting in January, wrote the library.

She also orders books for the department and helps patrons in the teen room, according to the library system.

Her favorite part about working at the West Hartford Public Library, so far, has been "getting to know the wonderful staff and patrons."

Before the West Hartford Public Library, she worked at the Plainville Public Library as a circulation associate and she still works as a youth services librarian there.
