West Hartford Town-Wide Food Drive Update: 1,792 Pounds of Food and Counting
All 11 of the town's elementary schools are participating in the drive to help keep the shelves stocked at the West Hartford Food Pantry.

Six elementary schools have finished their food drives and so far West Hartford’s Town-Wide Food Drive has collected 1,792 pounds of food and there are five more food drives to go.
One school will hold its drive at the end of February, while three schools begin their drives in March and April and the last school will hold its drive in June.
All 11 West Hartford elementary schools are participating in the food drive in an effort to keep the shelves stocked at the West Harford Food Pantry.

Shoprite of West Hartford, which is sponsoring the event, has pledged to match up to one ton (2,000 pounds) of canned vegetables.
Aiken Community Outreach Coordinator Corbin Woods said that the pantry is “always looking for protein foods such as tuna, Raviolis and Spaghettios, beans and soups, and even snacks. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.”

Woods, who spearheaded the movement after learning of the pantry’s need for food following the holiday season, also said “we are still looking for any local businesses who would like to sponsor and match our efforts with a like monetary donation - pounds collected for dollars. Any matching dollars for the WH Food Pantry will be greatly appreciated.”
