West Hartford Unveils July 4 Holiday Impacts

The Fourth of July holiday is on Thursday, July 4, with municipal operations impacted over the long holiday weekend.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — With the Fourth of July holiday falling on a Thursday this year, how it impacts municipal operations in a given municipality is likely to vary.

Recently, Town of West Hartford officials announced their closings/operations schedule for the long holiday weekend. Included are:

• Municipal facilities, including West Hartford Town Hall, libraries, community centers, senior centers, skating rink, Cornerstone Aquatics Center, Yard Waste & Recycling Center, and summer camp programs, are closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

• Due to the holiday, trash, “B” week recycling, yard waste, and bulky and metal collections from June 30 to July 6 will be one day late after the Thursday holiday.

Thursday’s collection will be on Friday and Friday’s collection will be on Saturday. Monday through Wednesday collection areas will remain on schedule.
