West Hartford's Recycling Request? Don't 'Wishcycle'
West Hartford and state officials Wednesday, Feb. 15, will host a special forum promoting proper recycling techniques.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Many of us take out the trash and put items in our recycling bins.
But are we doing it property? Or are we just winging it — or as the recycling community likes to call it, are we 'wishcycling?'
A virtual webinar to be seen Wednesday online and on local public access will feature state and West Hartford recycling advocates going over the practice of "wishcycling" and how to avoid it.

Folks are invited to join West Hartford Department of Public Works and guest speakers Sherill Baldwin and Emma MacDonald from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to, simply, learn what to throw out and what to recycle.
"Wishcycling" is the practice of guessing what can be recycled and what cannot, often resulting in non-recyclable items contaminating batches of recyclables and, therefore, forcing those items to be trashed instead of recycled.
