West Hartford Woman Killed In Hit-and-Run Accident

Newington Police have identified the victim in a fatal hit-and-run accident Tuesday morning in Newington as Sharon Frey, 60, of West Hartford, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports police also say they have located the suspected driver and that person is cooperating with police. No charges have been filed at this time, according to NBC.

Newington Police had asked for the public’s assistance in locating the driver after responding to Willard Avenue at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police said that upon arrival on the scene, officers found that a female pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle and died as a result of the collision.

The vehicle involved in the accident left the scene prior to police arrival. Evidence at the scene led investigators to believe the vehicle was a 2001-2005 silver Volkswagen Passat.

Police also found an injured dog at the scene and took it to a nearby veterinarian to be treated.
