West Hartford Yard Waste Collection Ends This Week; Leaf Pickup Begins Next Week

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford residents are being reminded that the town's curbside yard waste collection program will end Friday, Oct. 30, with its annual bagged leaf collection program scheduled to begin the following week.

The town announced that residential leaf collection will begin Monday, Nov. 2, and continue through Friday, Dec. 18.

During the seven-week program, crews will collect bagged leaves from residential properties each week on their regularly scheduled refuse collection day.

Residents must place leaves in one of the following:

• 30-gallon biodegradable paper bags
• Brown yard waste carts

The town's regular curbside yard waste collection service will conclude Oct. 30.

Residents who need to dispose of additional woody waste or yard waste after that date may bring the materials to the West Hartford Recycling Center, 25 Brixton St., for processing.

An annual permit is required to use the Recycling Center.

Residents are encouraged to prepare their leaves for collection and follow the town's guidelines to ensure materials are picked up.

For additional information about the program, including collection requirements, residents can visit the town's Leaf Collection webpage.
