West Hartford Yard Waste and Recycling Facility to Extend Fall Hours

The extended hours begin Saturday, Oct. 31.

Extended Saturday hours for fall yard material drop-off at the Town of West Hartford Yard Waste and Recycling Center begins on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays until the end of December, weather permitting. Regular hours of Monday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will also remain in effect.

New this fall, box springs, mattress and textiles are now accepted at the center with a valid permit.

Other materials such as leaves, branches and brush up to 6” in diameter, scrap metal, used motor oil (in sealed containers), antifreeze (in sealed containers), automotive batteries, and household recycling items (cardboard, boxboard, paper, plastics #1-7, food glass and metal containers) are also accepted at the site.

Permit stickers are sold at 17 Brixton Street with proofs of residency or property ownership to residents with their own vehicles. Day passes which allow a single day’s use to the Recycling Center for property owners choosing to use a vehicle not registered to their West Hartford address are also available.

Permits can be purchased on Saturday October 31st from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm or are available online or in person at the Public Works window located at 17 Brixton Street. Regular window hours are from 8:00 to 3:45 Monday through Friday.

The Yard Waste and Recycling facility is located at 25 Brixton Street.
