West Hartford Youth Baseball U10 Blue Thunder Travel Update

Results and write-ups as of July 19, 2011, provided by West Hartford Youth Baseball.

Fresh off of their 2nd place finish in the Cal Ripken District tournament in Woodbridge, CT the West Hartford U10 Blue Thunder has compiled an eight game wining streak 6-0 in the Farmington Lindquist U10 Tournament and 2-0 in the West Hartford Little League U10 Tournament.

Farmington Tournament

WHYBL Blue Thunder 18, Farmington 1. Game 1 was a total team offensive output with Matt Langevin (two triples), Bryan Renker and Colby Lytle each having two hits a piece. Ben Castro, Matt Beazoglou, Dominic Niman, Tim Cotter and Alex Dobbins each added to the offensive surge with a base hit. Casey Shane and Matt Beazoglou each pitched for the Thunder.

WHYBL Blue Thunder 16, Simsbury 4. Game 2, with the bats still hot from the previous game, the Thunder had multiple hitting outputs from Matt Langevin, Bryan Renker, Will Carpenter and Josh Wolmer each having two hits a piece while Ben Castro, Matt Beazoglou, Colby Lytle, Bryan Renker, Tim Cotter and Alex Dobbins each chipped in with a base hit. Colby Lytle and Matt Langevin pitched for the Thunder.

WHYBL Blue Thunder 12, West Hartford Little League 1. Game 3, the Thunder piled on ten hits from Zander Boehm, Casey Shane, Matt Langevin, Colby Lytle, Bryan Renker, Tim Cotter and Alex Dobbins while Bryan Renker, Tim Cotter, Josh Wolmer and Dominic Niman pitched in for the Thunder.

WHYBL Blue Thunder 6, Barkhamsted 4. Game 4, in a tough game against Barkhamsted the Thunder held on for a 6-4 victory, Will Carpenter and Dominic Niman led the Thunder offense with 2 hits each and Matt Langevin and Matt Beazoglou pitched.

WHYBL Blue Thunder 12, Avon 1. Game 5, the first of a double header for the Thunder, concluded with a 12-1 victory. Dominic Niman led the offense with 2 hits including a triple while Ben Castro, Bryan Renker, Casey Shane, Josh Wolmer, Alex Dobbins and Aiden Shea contributed to the offense output of the Thunder. Bryan Renker and Dominic Niman appeared on the mound for the Thunder.

WHYBL Blue Thunder 8, Burlington 7. Game 6 was a come from behind victory for the Thunder, with a 1-0 lead after 2 ½ innings Burlington took a 5-1 lead. In the next inning the Thunder added five runs with clutch hits from Casey Shane, Colby Lytle, Dominic Niman and Aiden Shea to take back a 6-5 lead. Not to be outdone Burlington pushed across two runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 7-6 lead. The Thunder picked up one run in each of the 5th and 6th and the defense shut Burlington out to pick up the 8-7 victory. Pitching for the Thunder were Josh Wolmer, Tim Cotter and Colby Lytle.     

 

West Hartford Little League Tournament

WHYBL Blue Thunder 11, West Hartford Little League 2. The Thunder started the tournament with an 11-2 victory over West Hartford Little League. After two innings in the books the Thunder had a 2-1 advantage led by Dominic Niman’s triple and Tim Cotter’s clutching hitting. In the 4th and 5th innings the Thunder tacked two more runs in each inning with RBIs from Matt Langevin, Dominic Niman, Tim Cotter and Zander Boehm. Taking a 6-2 lead into the 6th inning the Thunder pushed across four more runs with hits from Casey Shane, Colby Lytle, Matt Langevin, Bryan Renker and Josh Wolmer. Cloby Lytle, Casey Shane and Matt Langevin appeared on the mound for the Thunder to combine for the 11-2 victory.

WHYBL Blue Thunder 12, Plainville 2. In less than 12 hours, the Thunder took the field again on Sunday morning to put together a 12-2 victory over Plainville. The early wake up call was led by Will Carpenter, Casey Shane and Tim Cotter each of whom had two hits.  Matt Langevin, Matt Beazoglou and Dominic Niman appeared on the mound to hold Plainville to 2 runs.
