West Hartford's Aug. 13 Primary Vote: What You Need To Know

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Election Day is in November, but before that potentially historic day, local voters have some work to do Tuesday, Aug. 13 as the ballot must be finalized via primaries.

Throughout Connecticut, Republicans will be deciding the GOP senatorial hopeful looking to unseat U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn.

In that primary race, Gerry Smith is taking on Matthew M. Corey for the right to oppose the incumbent.

On Tuesday, Aug. 13, local polling places in West Hartford will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the GOP primary.

One of West Hartford's districts — District 1 (Poll site: King Philip Middle School) — has a Democratic primary for the 15th House District.

The district serves portions of Bloomfield and West Hartford.

The matchup for the party nomination pits incumbent state Rep. Bobby Gibson, D-Bloomfield, against party challenger Jennifer A. Marshall-Nealy, a registrar of voters in Bloomfield.

While all Republicans can vote for the U.S. Senate primary, only Democrats in District 1 can vote in the state House primary.

Meanwhile, early voting is available Aug. 5-11 at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St., West Hartford, in the auditorium.
