West Hartford's Good Friday Holiday Impacts Announced

Friday is Good Friday, with many municipalities recognizing the holiday that is part of Easter weekend.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Municipal offices and several public facilities in West Hartford will be closed Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday, according to town officials.

Town Hall, public libraries, the community center, and senior centers will not operate that day.

Despite the closures, trash collection will proceed on its regular schedule without delay.

West Hartford Public Schools are closed on Friday, April 3, and will reopen as normal on Monday, April 6.

The West Hartford Yard Waste & Recycling Center will also be closed on April 3. Officials said normal Saturday hours will resume on April 11.

Access to the facility requires an annual permit, which allows residents to dispose of items such as yard waste, electronics, textiles, and recyclables at no additional charge.

Library services will resume Saturday, April 4, but will be closed again Sunday, April 5, for Easter Sunday.

The Cornerstone Aquatics Center will remain open through the weekend, except for Easter Sunday, when it will be closed.

Officials encouraged residents to check the facility’s schedule online or call ahead for availability.

Westmoor Park will maintain regular hours, with farm operations open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and park grounds accessible from 8 a.m. until dusk.

The Veterans Memorial Skating Rink remains closed for renovations and is not expected to reopen until Aug. 1.

No additional service changes were announced.
