WH Health: Covid And Flu Vaccines Available In November

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The weather this week is expected to be mild and unseasonal, but, eventually, the typical New England autumn chill will sink in and portend Old Man Winter.

And when the weather gets cold, folks get sick — with both flu and Covid-19 still something we're all dealing with.

As a result, the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District is offering walk-in flu and COVID Booster clinics on Friday, Nov. 4, and Friday, Nov. 18.

Guests should bring identification, insurance cards and COVID vaccination cards.

If you don’t have your COVID card, a new one will be provided and the health district asks that people consider wearing short sleeves and a mask.

Clinics in West Hartford this month include:

• Friday, Nov. 4, at the Elmwood Community Center Auditorium (enter via Burgoyne Street), from 10 a.m. to noon.

• Friday, Nov. 18, at West Hartford Senior Center (Bishop's Corner, 15 Starkel Road), from 10 a.m. to noon.

Vaccines available are: Pfizer for ages 12 and up; Moderna for ages 18 and up; Flu for ages 4+ (High dose, regular, and pediatric flu vaccines are available)

There is no fee for the COVID booster.

For flu immunizations, insurance providers will be billed.

Insurance plans that are accepted include Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, ConnectiCare , Medicaid, Medicare Part B, and United Health/Oxford.

If you do not have insurance, the fees are $20 pediatric, $50 (ages 19-64) and $75 for high dose (age 65 yrs. and older). Cash or check accepted. No credit cards.

In addition, the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District offers COVID booster and flu vaccines for children by appointment every Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at their office located at 580 Cottage Grove Road, Suite 100, Bloomfield.

Vaccines available: Moderna booster for ages 6 and older; Pfizer booster for ages 5 and older; and flu for ages 4 and older.

Both flu and COVID booster vaccines can be received at the same time.
