WEST HARTFORD, CT — The town's biggest annual celebration is next month and organizers need volunteers to help make it happen.

The annual "Celebrate West Hartford" extravaganza is June 8 and 9, but from now until then about 1,000 volunteers are needed.

Which is why the event this week has put out the call to help.

In its 37th year, the celebration will take place that weekend at West Hartford Town Hall's grounds, 50 S. Main St., West Hartford.

But there is a lot of work to be done to transform the town's government hub into a celebration of entertainment, food, vendors, carnival rides, and as much fun as can be had in one, action-packed weekend.

Folks are needed to set up the event, greet exhibitors, maintain the dining tent, and sell tickets.

Those who participate will get free T-shirts, and free water bottles, "build community relationships" and "have fun supporting the biggest event in town."

Especially sought are adults and high school students.

The celebration has set up an easy-to-use, online volunteer system where those interested can get more information and commit to a variety of shifts both during the event, prior to, and after.
