West Hartford will resume garage repairs next week, with elevator and escalator upgrades continuing.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — The Town of West Hartford will resume work on its garage restoration project next week, with construction beginning at the Isham Garage’s fifth-floor roof level.
Work will resume on Monday, April 6.
Town officials said both the Isham and Memorial garages will remain open during construction, though drivers should expect temporary parking disruptions as work progresses.

Interior work at Isham Garage is scheduled to pause in June to limit impacts during major community events, including Celebrate West Hartford and the Pride Festival.
During that period, crews will shift to exterior repairs at Memorial Garage, focusing on joint and sealant work on stairwell towers.

The restoration project is part of a broader effort to extend the life and improve the safety of the town’s parking facilities.
Separately, West Hartford continues a multi-year modernization project for elevators and escalators at both garages, aimed at improving reliability, safety, and accessibility.
At Isham Garage, elevator modernization is underway and “progressing on schedule,” with completion expected in May 2026, according to the town.
The garage will remain open during the work.
To maintain accessibility, officials designated two ADA parking spaces on Level 2 and installed signage directing patrons to stairs and escalators.
At Memorial Garage, modernization of escalators serving the lower level and first floor is also on schedule, with completion anticipated in July 2026.
Work areas have been barricaded, and signage directs pedestrians to alternate routes, including access via 65 Memorial Road.
Town officials said 13 ground-level spaces at Memorial Garage will remain reserved for patient parking, and the ADA drop-off and pick-up area on Memorial Road has been expanded with two additional spaces.
Once the current phase is complete, escalator upgrades will continue on Levels 2 and 3 at Memorial Garage.
The town’s Municipal Parking Division will continue to monitor both facilities and assist patrons during construction.
Officials encouraged residents with questions to contact the division directly.
