West Hartford's Smith STEM School Sends Weather Balloon into the Sky

The balloon landed in Central Massachusetts at about 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

After months of planning, students at West Hartford’s Smith STEM School launched their own weather balloon into the sky Tuesday morning.

The balloon, which was launched at about 8:45 a.m., landed in Central Massachusetts around 12 noon, according to FOX CT.

The project was aided by a grant and was an exciting learning experience for the students.

“It is better than seeing it in a textbook,” student Serenity Cillery told NBC Connecticut. “This is like we are really there.”
