West Hartford's Thanksgiving Closings, What You Need To Know
West Hartford's town offices, schools, parks, libraries and senior centers will be impacted by this week's Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — There's no doubt about it this week, the holiday season is officially on us as the mercury starts to plummet.
West Hartford officials have released in-depth information on how the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday will impact town and school operations.
Essentially, municipal offices, senior centers, community center, recreation facilities and libraries will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Meanwhile, West Hartford Public Schools are closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25.
West Hartford Reservoir, located at 1420 Farmington Ave., and Reservoir No. 6, located off Route 44/Albany Avenue in West Hartford, will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Other impacts include:
• TRASH DELAY
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the collection of trash, recyclable items and bulky/metal collections will be delayed one day after the holiday.
The normal Thursday collection will be done on Friday, Nov. 25, and Friday's collection will be done on Saturday, Nov. 26.
No other collection days are effected during this holiday week or the following week.

• LIBRARY HOURS
West Hartford's public library branches are closing early at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
Like everything else, they will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24.
• SOME FRIDAY CLOSINGS
Like the schools, some other municipal entities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 25, as well.
Among those closed on Friday are: Elmwood Senior Center; Bishops Corner Senior Center; Elmwood Community Center; and the West Hartford Public Schools administrative offices.
• FRIDAY OPENINGS, NOV. 25
Many town operations will return to normal on Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving.
They include: Noah Webster Library, 20 S. Main St., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Bishops Corner and Faxon libraries are open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St., 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; West Hartford Yard Waste & Recycling Center, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and recreation facilities will be open, including the West Hartford Skating Rink, Westmoor Park and Cornerstone Aquatics Center.
