West Hartford Theatrical Tradition Kicks Off Thursday

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A local summertime tradition kicks off Thursday with local theater performers putting on a memorable show for the public.

In its 47th season, the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival returns to the stage, live and in person, to present "Into the Woods."

Performances will be held at Hall High School, 976 N. Main St., on Thursday, July 27, Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29, at 7 p.m.

In addition, a single-act family friendly version of the show will be presented on Saturday, July 29, at 1 p.m.

Founded in 1977, The West Hartford Summer Arts Festival has been a venue for high school and college students from the Greater Hartford area to perform in high-caliber productions of some of Broadway’s most famous musicals.

The festival is a joint event organized by the West Hartford Department of Leisure Services, West Hartford's Department of Fine & Performing Arts and the SAF Endowment Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

As for the play itself, "Into the Woods" presents a unique take on well-known fairy tales.

"Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of 'Into the Woods,' where beloved fairy tales take unexpected twists and thought-provoking journeys unfold," reads a program announcement.

"This captivating musical weaves together a tapestry of compelling characters, catchy melodies and profound storytelling."
