Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Nineteen Eastern Connecticut State University biology students traveled to San Salvador Island in the Bahamas from May 14 to May 25 to study tropical biology. Students were accompanied by Biology Professors Kristen Epp, Brett Mattingly and Josh Idjadi. During their trip they examined the ecology of marine and terrestrial organisms. Among the students was Jessica Tse of West Hartford, who majors in Biology. The students' marine studies focused on coral reefs, sea grass beds, mangroves and rocky shore communities. Terrestrial studies examined caves, mud flats, sand dunes and upland shrub communities. Students visited Oyster Pond and observed a vent through which the water in the pond communicates tidally with the ocean. They also visited a cave to see native bats and other local creatures, including an endemic isopod. The 10-day field experience was headquartered at Gerace Research Centre (GRC) from which students ventured daily; nightly lab sessions and discussions supplemented each day's field observations.
- Eighteen Eastern Connecticut State University business administration students traveled to Rome and Perugia, Italy, from May 22 to June 3 to study international business. Among the students was Zoe Buntz of West Hartford, who majors in Business Administration and Economics. Prior to the trip, Professor Emiliano Villanueva led the class "International Business in an International Setting," where students researched a range of topics related to business in Italy. Upon their return, students submitted in-depth, 20-page reports reflecting on their experiences in Italy. Topics spanned the geography, history and culture of Italy, as well as Italian politics, business etiquette and economic opportunities.

- Alexandra Jarvis of West Hartford has been placed on the Deans' Commendation List for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2019 semester. Students with a quality point average in the range of 3.300 to 3.599 for a semester's work are placed on the College's Deans' Commendation List.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy NY
- RPI student-athlete Grant O'Connor of West Hartford and Hall High School has been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). An electrical engineering and computer & systems engineering dual major, O'Connor consistently appeared on the Dean's List throughout his time at Rensselaer. He earned Liberty League All-Academic awards three times each in cross country and track & field and was honored as a U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic selection six times in total. He held engineering internships at Otis Elevator Co. (2016 & 2017) and Polaris Industries (2018) before accepting a full-time position with Raytheon.

- Two West Hartford residents made the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2019 spring semester: Andrew Festa, who is in the computer science program, and Mikayla Stricklett, who is in the industrial design program.Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
St. Lawrence University, Canton NY
- Natalie A. Nordyke of West Hartford, a member of the Class of 2022 who attended Hall High School, has been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the spring 2019 semester at St. Lawrence University. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

- Anne Ferketic of West Hartford was among the 64 members of The University of Scranton's undergraduate class of 2019 honored for academic excellence, service or both. The awards were presented at Class Night on May 24 on campus. Ferketic, recipient of the Excellence in Health Administration Award, earned a bachelor's degree in health administration with a business minor. She served as a Royal Ambassador at Scranton and as a member of the University's Refugee Committee. She is a graduate of Conard High School.
