Youth Play Institute Presents "A Bullet's Conscience"

Members of HartBeat’s Youth Play Institute (YPI), interviewed Sen. Chris Murphy Tuesday as part of the research they conducted about a play on gun control.

The broad theme was chosen before the Orlando mass shooting, and other shootings have captured the nation’s attention since then, prompting the 11- member group to choose Murphy as one of their interview subjects.

Members of the group, comprised of youth from 16 to 22, have interviewed experts on all sides of the issue.

Based on their research, they will write a one-act play, in which they will act and serve as lighting and costume designers as well as stage managers. The play runs July 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m., and July 31 at 2 p.m. at HartBeat’s Carriage House Theater, 360 Farmington Ave.
