1 Killed After Being Ejected From Car On I-95 In West Haven: State PD

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, and state police say they are still searching for one of the drivers.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Delvon West, 35, of Lansing Street in Bridgeport, was killed during a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 southbound between the exit 42 on and off ramps in West Haven, state police said.

State police said at 2:37 a.m. Saturday, a 2018 Dodge Challenger was traveling on I-95 Southbound, in the right lane of three, between the Exit 42 on and off ramps in West Haven. A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling directly behind the Dodge Challenger "at a suspected high rate of speed and struck the rear of Vehicle #1," state police said.

"The impact caused Vehicle #1 to veer into the right shoulder and strike the metal beam guardrail. After the initial impact, Vehicle #2 rolled over, causing an occupant inside of Vehicle #2 to be ejected...West was pronounced deceased on scene," state police said.

State police said they don't know who was driving the Jeep at the time of the accident. The driver of the Dodge and two passengers, all Danbury residents, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, state police said.

The collision resulted in I-95 being closed for approximately six hours in the area of Exit #42.

Troop G is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Trooper Farrow #1214, at 203-696-2500 or rahiem.farrow@ct.gov.

Furthermore, if you were driving through the area of the collision at the time of the crash, and may have footage recorded on a vehicle equipped dashboard camera, you are also asked to contact Troop G in Bridgeport. This accident remains under investigation.
