1st Female Firefighter To Be Sworn In To West Haven-Allingtown FD
The West Haven Fire Department – Allingtown will swear-in three new firefighters, including its first female full-time career firefighter.
WEST HAVEN, CT — For the first time in its history, the City of West Haven Fire Department – Allingtown will swear in its first female full-time career firefighter next week.
The department will conduct a swearing-in ceremony for three recently hired firefighters at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Minor Park station at 318 Fairfax Street. This will be the first time since the pandemic that the ceremony will be open to the public for family and friends to be part of the event, according to City of West Haven – Allingtown Fire Chief Michael Terenzio.
“We are proud and excited to officially welcome our new first female firefighter Samantha Trayer upon her successful completion of the 14-week long State of Connecticut Fire Academy program where she is finishing near the top of the class,” Terenzio wrote in a news release. “In addition, the department will also be officially welcoming two firefighters who have laterally transferred from the states of Virginia, and Arizona after following and successfully completing the application process with the City of West Haven FD- Allingtown. We look forward to their working with us as they bring with them additional training and experiences from these divergent areas of the country.”
