Police said multiple gunshots appeared to be directed at a bar in West Haven.

WEST HAVEN, CT — Two people have been arrested in connection with a shots fired investigation in West Haven, according to police.

“While officers were on Captain Thomas Boulevard searching for evidence related to a shots fired, they observed what appeared to be a gray Infiniti traveling westbound on Captain Thomas Boulevard towards Campbell Avenue,” Allard wrote in a news release. “The Infiniti turned onto Campbell Avenue and quickly stopped in front of a bar located on the lower end of the street. A short time later, officers heard multiple gunshots, which appeared to be directed at the bar. At this time, there were no reported injuries from anyone at the bar.

“The Infiniti was then pursued northbound on Campbell Avenue, where a tire deflation device was deployed in an attempt to slow down the vehicle. The Infiniti struck the device and, shortly thereafter, crashed into a parked car.”

After the crash, Allard said officers saw a man wearing a black ski mask and black jacket flee from the Infiniti on foot. Officers caught up to the man and took him into custody.

He was identified as 20-year-old Izaiah Moore of West Haven, according to Allard. Moore was taken into custody without incident, Allard said.

Allard said officers at the crash scene removed a woman from the driver’s seat of the Infiniti. She was identified as 26-year-old Jisela Villanueva of West Haven, and taken into custody without incident, according to Allard.

“The handgun was not located inside the Infinity but was located a short time later underneath a parked vehicle,” Allard wrote. “It is believed that Villanueva threw the handgun out of the window.”

Villanueva was charged with engaging officers in pursuit, interfering with an officer, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.

Moore was charged with interfering with an officer.

Allard said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
