2 Students Arrested After Fight At West Haven High School: PD

WEST HAVEN, CT — Two students were arrested after a fight at West Haven High School on Thursday morning, according to police.

During the incident, a student “took a fighting stance” and challenged a police officer to a fight, which police said resulted in several patrol units responding to the school to control the scene.

“This morning an altercation began between two West Haven High School students,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “As the Security Team, Administration and School Resource Officers were controlling the incident one of the males involved ran outside attempting to assault another student. This juvenile was swiftly apprehended.

“As Officers were placing him under arrest a second juvenile male took a fighting stance and challenged an Officer to fight. As a result, numerous patrol units were sent to WHHS to control the scene. The second juvenile male took off running as backup units arrived and was also taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

“WHPD and the West Haven Board of Education will continue to work together to provide a safe and effective learning environment and we will take appropriate action to anyone who attempts to disrupt this.”
