4 Arrested, 2 Guns Seized After Traffic Stop: West Haven Police
Police said two men were found in possession of "ghost guns" and two women "actively" resisted officers during the incident.
WEST HAVEN, CT — Four people were arrested and two guns were seized after a traffic stop late Friday night in West Haven, according to police.
Members of the West Haven Police Department Street Crime Unit were in the area of Meloy Road and Claudia Drive just before midnight on May 19 when they saw a white Subaru engaging in “suspicious activity,” according to police.
A traffic stop was conducted on Saw Mill Road, and after further investigation, police said four people were arrested and two guns were seized.

The driver, identified as Chamon Highsmith of Bridgeport, was found in possession of a 9mm Polymer 80 “ghost gun” with a high-capacity magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition, according to police.
Police said a rear passenger, Jerrod Leak of Stratford, was also found in possession of a 9mm Polymer 80 “ghost gun” with a high-capacity magazine containing 11 rounds of ammunition.

Two female passengers were also arrested, according to police.
Danaja Edmonds, of Bridgeport, and Jenna Havas, of New Milford, were both taken into custody after police said they actively resisted officers during the incident.
Police said both women “refused to get out of the vehicle and Edmonds actively fought and had to be forcibly removed from the backseat of the Subaru.”
Highsmith was charged with alteration of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapon in a motor vehicle and several motor vehicle charges including operating without a license and misuse of plates, according to police.
Leak was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition, alteration of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, carrying a pistol without a permit and violation of a protective order.
Havas and Edmunds were each charged with interfering with a police officer. Edmunds was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant with the New Milford Police Department, according to police.
