600 Marijuana Plants Found at Day Care Facility: Police

WEST HAVEN, CT — State Inspectors were conducting a routine compliance inspection at a licensed day care facility when they made a startling discovery.

Police said on Friday officers were called to 159 Norfolk St., which is a licensed day dare facility, after State Inspectors conducting a compliance inspection discovered marijuana plants growing in the backyard of the daycare.

Police officers observed a newly erected wooden fence that housed the plants, police said on the department's Facebook page.

Officers from the department's Street Crime Unit arrived and continued with this investigation, executing search warrants of the property, police said.

Police found approximately 600 marijuana plants that were 6-10 feet tall. The facility was shut down by City Housing inspectors, and the day care license revoked, police said. Arrests are forthcoming, police said.
